Hillingdon Get So Much More!

For £26 million Hillingdon have just got a 50 meter eight lane pool, a massive 67 meter lido, leisure pools, gym, exercise studios, badminton courts, netball courts, crèche, cafe, restaurant, athletics track with covered grandstand, floodlit 5-a-side astro pitches, a conference room, spin studio and a sports hall.

Here at PoolTooSmall we think Hillingdon have got a lot more for their £26 million than SADC are offering us- and we think this finally sinks any claims that doubling the size of the new pool will double the cost of the project.

Hillingdon contributed £26 million to the total £31 million cost (the rest being provided by the London Development Agency and National Lottery). We note that Hillingdon's facility is actually finished, whereas our £26 million+ St. Albans project hasn't even started. The cost has already risen by more than £7 million from the £19 million original estimate- but who knows- maybe it will come in under budget!

We have Mr B.P. and his excellent feedback to thank for drawing our attention to this- and as Mr B.P. puts it so well:

Seems like Council Tax payers in Hillingdon are getting a much better deal. Time for our Council to order a rethink?
