The Herts Advertiser this week has a news feature 'D-Day for decision on swim pool plan' providing a balanced and comprehensive overview of the current situation. The Advertiser also carries two excellent letters on the new Westminster Lodge issue: 'We must get it right with pool' which helps to reinforce the point that water space is a broadly valuable resource providing opportunities for a wider range of sporting activities than just swimming- and Vanessa Gregory's letter 'Purdah planning dilemma' in which she questions the probity of making such a significant planning decision so close to an election "...This planning committee, like others, will possibly within two weeks of the meeting be subject to a re-balance due to the election outcome..." and questions whether the committee making this decision can still be seen to be unbiased given the recent politicisation of the new Westminster Lodge issue. |
