Within days of being appointed chair of the St Albans City and District Council's Overview and Scrutiny Committee in May 2010, following local elections, Cllr Julian Daly invited PoolTooSmall to testify to his committee regarding the new Westminster Lodge development.

Cllr Daly said he would like an opportunity to:

"[...] bring your group's thoughts out into the public, to do them justice; the logical place to do this is at the Overview & Scrutiny committee".

David Gilroy and Mike Mathison have both agreed to appear at the meeting, and members of the public are also welcome to attend. Cllr Daly confirmed the arrangements as follows:

"[...] the meeting is confirmed for 7pm, Monday 19 July, in the Council Chamber. It will be a public meeting- though it is possible that the tail end of the meeting may go into private session if we move onto commercially sensitive aspects of the financing of the current proposals."

David Gilroy will be testifying not primarily in his capacity as a resident or member of PoolTooSmall, but as a professional European and Chartered Engineer with 4 decades of multi-million pound senior systems and analytical project management experience. Commenting on the development, David said: "People on the streets and in City Hall are not happy about the way this project is being handled by the ruling Council. We are handing down our professional opinion in some detail as to why the 25 metre by 8 lane main pool proposal is totally flawed, and what the remedy is".

PoolTooSmall urge all their supporters to assemble outside the Council Offices at 6.30 pm on the Monday 19th July 2010 for briefing and photographs. The Press will be invited - see you there !
Remember - it's OUR £26.776 million they are spending!
